Letter E Activities for Preschoolers
This is a collection of funhands-on activitiesforyoung childrenexploring theletter E.
- Paint the letter E with water on a chalkboard or sidewalk. This is agreat wayto introduce the concept ofevaporation.
- Paint with shaving cream on a table and watch it evaporate.
- Make the letter E out ofplay dough
- Be an explorer – gather things like: a magnifying glass, a notebook, pencils, and crayons – and then head to a park, a lake, or even out back, to explore!
- Have an egg hunt. Even if it’s not Easteryoung childrenwill still have fun looking forplastic eggs
- ReadGreen Eggsand Ham and then make your owngreen eggsand ham! (Just add food coloring)
- Make egg salad in a ziplock bag
- have your child place a hardboiled egg in a ziplock bag.
- add a little mayonnaise, mustard salt, and pepper
- have your little one work on theirfine motor skillsby having them gently squish the bag to mix up the egg salad then spread it on bread for a yummy egg salad sandwich!

Letter E Sound
The letter E makes twoletter sounds/e/ as in egg and long /e/ where it says its own name as in eagle.
There are E words that are exceptions to this rule. The ones I see the most are, E is for eyes and E is for earth. Skip these for now so they don’t confuse young learners.
