And one of the best songwriters in John Phillips. Phillips wrote "me and my uncle" in a tequila blackout one night and didn't even remember it.

And he had a voice that was much better than many realized, because they featured others in the group so often.

This is one of my all-time favorites because of his vocals and the harmonies. Perhaps his greatest talent was arranging song harmonies.

Absolutely. Great vocals and the harmonizing was fantastic.

Another band I always liked . Frankie Vali and The Four Seasons.

Frankie's falsetto may not be everyone's cup of tea. But it's iconic anyway. I liked a lot of the early sixties stuff . Because the 50's sound was evident as they made the transition into the sixties. Vali had quite a bit of success in the 50's. And it just increased in the 60's. The sixties really pushed the 70's (probably my favorite decade ) for the amount of fantastic bands and sounds that came out of it . The 60's that is. I was a teenager up until the middle part of the 70's decade. So 70's music is probably my favorite decade. But the 60's is a close second. Pop music started getting my attention by the time I was 11 or 12. And that was in the middle of the 60's. The 50's sound hadn't died out yet. You can hear it's influence in a lot of early 60 music.

Realizing you are aboutr my age. I probably am not saying anything you dont already know. O.T. Song of the Day or what are you listening to right now? (8)

Quite possibly the worst song on that soundtrack, and that includes Don Henley's 'She's on the Zoom."
