Bulk Waste Collection (2024)

ALERT: SPRING 2024

During Bulk Waste Week from May 13-17, 2024 neither TIRES nor COVERED ELECTRONIC DEVICES (computers, printers, televisions) will be collected. Details on a separate collection of these items will be available soon.

The rates paid by residential customers in the Regional Refuse and Recycling Program include a free bulk waste collection each Spring and again in the Fall. This service is provided at no additional cost; residents who miss the collection may arrange a pick-up with WASTE MANAGEMENT for a fee.

2024 BULK WASTE COLLECTION dates:

SPRING: MAY 13 - 17
FALL: OCTOBER 14 - 18

  • Bulk Waste collection will occur on your normal day of service. Items must be properly prepared. LOOSE PILES WILL NOT BE COLLECTED.
  • Larger items do not need to be bagged. Just set them at the curb.
  • Smaller items must be in some kind of a container, such as a trash bag or a can (leave a note on the can if you do not want it taken as well). Do not place items in cardboard boxes as these become too weak when wet. NO LOOSE PILES will be collected.
  • Click here for Bulk Waste Guidelines that provide you with important guidelines and information on item preparation.
  • Tires, Appliances, Scrap Metal and Electronics will be collectedseparately and RECYCLED. Please separate these items from your other bulk waste and regular trash, and make sure they can be seen clearly from the street as the separate trucks may arrive earlier than the refuse trucks.
  • Electronics includes only covered devices accepted for recycling by Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority. Find a list of those items here: Electronics

Please remember that many usable household items can be donated for reuse. ClickDonate Trash for Reusefor more information.

WHAT WILL BE COLLECTED:

  • Keep in mind that there are only 2 workers per collection vehicle during this special collection week! Items that cannot safely be lifted by 2 workers WILL NOT BE COLLECTED.
  • Due to truck restrictions, no metal or wood items in excess of 4 feet in length can be accepted.
  • For particularly large items, (i.e., pianos, very large furniture, trampolines, etc.) customers should inquire with Waste Management ahead of time to determine if the collection vehicles can accommodate the item.
  • Residents should take care not to leave items they do not want to be discarded within 5 feet of the refuse pile. Some bulk items will be collected by a separate truck.
  • If items are in good working condition, please consider making a donation to a local charity. See our Donate Trash for Reuse List.
  • Items or materials on truck beds or trailers WILL NOT BE COLLECTED.
